Head Dying Tutorial
After the Cardinal Lax Shootout, there was much interest in how to dye Stick Heads.
Images: dye.jpg
I decided this is the best way to help provide a tutorial with some additional assistance that I used.

Materials needed:
  1. RIT Dye (found at Woodman's Food Market in every color made)
  2. Water
  3. Bottle of Vinegar
  4. Table Salt
  5. Measuring Cup
  6. Large Pot that Head could fit into
  7. Stirring sticks (or Fond Du)
  8. Grill
  9. Bucket of cold water
  10. NON-NICE clothing that you do not treasure much that may get dye on
  11. A lot of RAGS!
Instructions:
  1. Determine what color(s) you want to dye the head.
  2. Remove head from shaft and remove mesh, ball stop (foam pad at the bottom of pocket), along with any manufacturer's branding stickers.
  3. Clean the stick head with dish soap and water to remove as much dirt as possible.
  4. Boil pot full of Water on the grill to save your kitchen from dyed countertop, stove, sink, etc.
  5. Once boiling, Add 1/2 cup Salt, 2 tablespoons of Vinegar and packet or bottle of RIT Dye and stir.
  6. Reduce and add head to soak for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove from dye after 10 minutes and rinse in bucket of water.
  8. Let head cool on rag after rinsing.
  9. Once cool, soak in dye again for 5 to 10 minutes.
  10. Rinse again and let cool.
  11. Restring, apply ball stop and attach to shaft.
  12. Practice, practice, practice and make Sun Prairie proud!
